is perched and tucked away in a very small local village just outside Kinigi Ruhengeri, Northern Rwanda on the outskirts of Volcanoes National Park. Amakoro Songa Lodge is a perfect mix of conservation and tourism. Songa Lodge has 8 luxurious cottages which are designed and built with the idea of naturally blending into the local surroundings. Amakoro Songa Lodge derives its name from the black volcanic rocks that characterize Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri Northern Rwanda which is the natural habitat of the rare mountain gorillas. The Amakoro Songa lodge is sprawled on 7 acres with beautifully manicured lawns, surrounded by the Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabinyo mountain volcanoes.

All the cottages at Amakoro Songa Lodge are furnished with rustic elegance, that blends extremely well with local and modern furnishing pieces that exhude elegance and luxury. The spacious living rooms, each fitted with a fireplace as the temperatures can quite drop in the evenings. The Songa Lodge outdoor fireplace offers guests to enjoy an evening drink while watching the traditional Intore Dance Troupe as they catch up on their gorilla trekking experiences.

Amakoro Songa Lodge employs a very renowned chef who churns out both local and international cuisines. We encourage our guests to always try the local Rwandan cuisine. Songa Lodge grows its own spices and vegetables in our organic and sustainably managed gardens . We employ local staff from the local community to provide much needed employment opportunities to the locals giving you the guest the chance to be served with Northern Rwanda authentic hospitality.
