We have 6 cottages and intend the Lodge to remain small and intimate. At the Lodge we have full time electricity, powerful, hot showers, flushing loos and a plentiful supply of cold drinks and ice. One of Bulago Island's great virtues is that we are not troubled by mosquitoes.
Bulago Island is situated just one mile south of the equator on Lake Victoria-the second largest fresh water lake in the world-and the source of the Nile.
Bulago Island is all about enjoyment and relaxation. We have over 300 species of birds to watch, otters play along the shores, and our nature trails provide wonderful opportunities for observing nature at her best.
Bulago has a wide range of terrain, from rugged hills to open grassland to golden sandy beaches to gentle cliffs to areas of tropical forest. All on a 500 acre private island. Bulago Island is the first island in Lake Victoria to be developed exclusively for leisure use. 30 local and expatriate residents currently own beach front plots as well as London-based financiers and film producers.
