The 8 days Rwanda tour covers the best of Rwanda's travel journey. The tour package starts with a Kigali city and then proceed to Nyungwe where we track the colobus monkeys and the chimpanzees. Enroute to Nyungwe the tour has a scheduled stop in Butare to visit Rwanda's cultural and educational centre. The tour allows participants to visit the King's palace in Nyanza plus a museum.
After tracking the chimps in Nyungwe, the Rwanda tour proceeds to Gisenyi for a relaxing break including a boat ride on Lake Kivu prior to the ultimate-trekking the mountain gorillas and spending a memorable one hour with them as they go about their normal business.
We later return to Kigali where this exciting Rwanda gorilla and chimps tour ends.
Tour Day 1 Arrival and Transfer
Arrival and transfer to your hotel. After check in have lunch on your own at the poolside. In the afternoon, go for a city tour; exploring the pre-colonial sites, colonial and post colonial sites in Rwanda and the current development trends in Kigali plus visiting local people in Nyamirambo, curio markets and the Kimironko fruits etc. Overnight Novotel Hotel
Tour Day 2 Kigali- Nyanza-Butare - Gikongoro (Murambi)-Nyungwe
An early morning breakfast is followed by a drive to Nyungwe forest. On the way, visit Nyanza King’s Palace, the National Museum of Butare and the genocide memorial of Murambi. Nyanza was the headquarters of the ancient Rwanda Kingdom before the arrival of the Europeans. The compound has the modern palace constructed by King Mutara in 1934. Next to it is the reconstructed King’s hut as it was on the arrival of the Europeans.
It is tastefully decorated with the traditional mats and utensils. The Butare Museum is reputed to be the best ethnographical Museum in East Africa. It is the home of the national ballet-Intore dancers. Have lunch at Butare and proceed to Murambi genocide memorial. Overnight Gisakura Guest House
Tour Day 3 Hiking, trekking/tracking Colobus trails of Nyungwe
After breakfast, enter Nyungwe forest to track the Nyungwe Colobus monkey. A walk in the forest is a whole learning experience conducted by knowledgeable guides well versed in botany, ornithology and interspecies relationship in this forest. Thereafter, return to your lodge for lunch. Dinner and overnight Gisakura Guest House.
Tour Day 4 Nyungwe Kibuye
After breakfast, enter Nyungwe forest (06:00) to track the chimpanzee. Thereafter return to the Guest House for lunch followed by a drive to Kibuye. Overnight Bethanie Guest house.
Tour Day 5 Kibuye - Gisenyi - Ruhengeri –Kinigi:
Distance 213 Km/6 Hrs driving time - After breakfast, drive to Gisenyi and finally to Kinigi. The drive Kibuye-Gisenyi is via the most beautiful providing spectacular views of the tea growing country of Gisovu and Kayove. Brief stops are provided for photography. A four hours drive takes to Gisenyi for lunch and a brief city tour. There after drive for two hours to Musanze and finally Kinigi the base of gorilla tracking. Overnight Gorilla Nest Hotel.
Tour Day 6 Gorillas in the mist
An early morning breakfast is followed by a drive to Kinigi park headquarters for group, guide allocation and briefing. This is followed by a drive to the trailheads where hiking and trekking up the hills to the bamboo zone begins. Hiking, trekking or tracking gorillas may take 2-3 hours. Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour. Descend to your hotel for lunch. Afternoon, at leisure or on a tour of the area, visit twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo. Tour Day 7 Gorilla Ruhengeri - Kigali
After breakfast, trek-up the mountains for another memorable experience with the gorillas. Return to the base hotel for lunch. In the afternoon drive to Kigali. Overnihgt Mille Collines Hotel
Tour Day 8: Airport Transfer & Departure
After breakfast, have a city tour. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your home flight.
