8 DAYS & 7 NIGHTS - THE BEST OF RWANDA SAFARI.
This safari brings you to the most interesting places of Rwanda. From the rocky highlands and the wet plains of Akagera National Park, home to the big African game, to the lush rain-forest of Nyungwe with its unique primates. Enjoy the spectacular landscapes of Rwanda’s hills and the serenity of Lake Kivu’s shores. Visit the former King’s Palace and Trek the mountain gorilla in the mist.
Day 1: Meet and greet upon arrival at Kigali international airport by our airport representative and professional local driver guide and transfer to Golf Hills Residence Hotel for overnight stay on bed and breakfast BB
Day 2:: After breakfast departure for Volcanoes national park via Kigali genocide memorial centre. After visiting the memorial site you will proceed to the Virungas. Check in at Ishema hotel for lunch. After lunch at leisure, late evening you will visit the local market near the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay on bed and breakfast BB
Day 3: After an early breakfast drive to the park offices for registration and pre gorilla trekking briefing .You will be allocated to the one of the Gorilla groups then after drive to the starting point where you will be guided by your park ranger. The amount of time take to find the Gorillas ranges from 2--4hrs depending on the location of the group that you have been assigned to .Viewing gorillas and taking pictures takes one hour then after you will get back to the trekking starting point for your drive back to the hotel for lunch. After lunch drive to Gisenyi /lake Kivu one of the great lakes in Africa and the largest of the fresh water lakes that gleam in the Albertine (Western) rift of the Great Rift Valley. Day 4: Full day at Lake Kivu /optional boat riding:
Lake Kivu is surrounded by majestic mountains with soothing sandy beaches and gently pounding waves. The Lake is a perfect place to relax and unwind after Gorilla trekking. Gisenyi offers excellent views of Goma city in DRC and Mt Nyiragongo that erupted in 2001 and destroyed a part of Goma city in DRC. Day 5: After an early breakfast departure for Nyungwe national park via Kibuye. Enroute you will visit the King's palace in Nyanza of Butare. Enjoy some of the old war dances performed by young Intore dancers. Lunch at Ibis hotel in Butare town. After lunch you will proceed to Nyungwe. The road passes through hilly and tea plantations along sides of the road in Rwanda's southern province. Check in at Gisakura guest house for dinner and overnight on bed and breakfast BB
Day 6: : After an early breakfast we drive to the park reception for registration and pre chimpanzee tracking briefing . Nyungwe forest national park is a jungle of (1000sq.km) and is probably the richest forest in terms of biodiversity in Africa. It is home to 13 types of primates, several species of large mammals e.g. Leopards, Golden monkeys, Cats, Bush pigs and Duikers. Among the primates, Chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys have been habituated for tourism. There are 275 bird species, 25 endemics and the great blue turaco is a star attraction.
This park also boasts 250 species of trees and shrubs plus an amazing 148 Orchid varieties, Lunch at the guest house and later drive back to Kigali. Check in at Sports view hotel for overnight stay on bed and breakfast BB
Day 7: After an early breakfast departure for Akagera National Park. This route takes us through Rwanda’s phenomenal landscape and living lifestyles. We start the experience of Akagera National Park with a morning game viewing before check in at Akagera game lodge for lunch. After lunch at leisure. Late evening game viewing to the southern circuit along lake Ihema. During the game drive, there are plenty of animals to see including elephants, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and many other species. One of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa, the game drive in Akagera provides you an opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies . At the end of the game drive we drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay on bed and breakfast BB
Day 8:: An early morning game drive . Later we drive back to the lodge for a brunch. After the brunch we drive back to Kigali for your outbound flight..
