Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.
Met on arrival at airport and transfer to Kigali. Transfer to your overnight Kigali accommodation and briefing on your safari. O/N Banana Boutique Hotel
Day 2: After breakfast, do the Kigali city tour and a visit to the genocide memorial. After lunch depart for PNV at 2pm. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterise much of Rwanda's landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. o/N Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge
Day 3: In the morning either relax or walk near the Lodge, visit the golden monkeys or trek to Dian Fossey's grave. After lunch transfer to Uganda [Clocks go forward one hour]. O/N: Traveller's Rest Hotel
Day 4: Either go climb the Muhavura or Gahinga volcanoes, or go for a nature walk, visit golden monkeys in Mgahinga. O/N: Traveller's Rest Hotel
Day 5: Drive to Bwindi through the Switzerland of Africa, with the road winding through many hills and valleys, with distant views of the volcanoes and lakes. Alternatively look for monkeys and birds near the river by the Lodge or go for a community walk. o/n Mahogany springs
Day 6: Go gorilla trekking in the morning. After noon at leisure at your lodge. You could visit the nearby village , have a nature walk in the forest. O/N Mahogany Springs Lodge
Day 7: Leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Either drive via Ishasha, home of the tree climbing lion, roads permitting, or take the alternative route through cultivated expanses. Time permitting, go for an evening game drive O/N: Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge
Day 8: Go for an early morning game drive to seek out wildlife, rest during the heat of the day and then go on an evening game drive. The game seen will depend on the season, the Kasenyi plains are good for lion and the Mweya peninsula for a variety of animals. O/N Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge
Day 9: An excursion to Kyambura Gorge nearby to track the fast moving and elusive chimpanzees, one of man's closest relations. The chimp population is quite mobile and viewing is unpredictable but the walk is enchanting. Alternatively go for a nature walk in Maramagambo Forest to see other primates and to visit the Blue Lake. In the afternoon take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel where the wildlife and a vast array of birds come to drink. o/n Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge.
Day 10: Drive to Kampala. You may stop over and spend a night in Lake Mburo National Park. enroute stand on the Equator, bargain at the roadside markets and see the royal drum makers. Overnight Cassia Lodge
Day 11 : Kampala - Murchison Falls National Park - o/n Budongo Eco- Lodge
In the morning you drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Masindi. On your way have a stopover at the Rhino Sanctuary and get to see Rhinos . After the stopover at the Rhino sanctuary, continue your journey to Murchison falls. You drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Masindi and Biso. From Biso the road drops down the escarpment into Africa’s Great Rift Valley offering spectacular views of Lake Albert on the valley floor. In the afternoon you arrive at Nile Safari Camp on the banks of the Victoria Nile. Each tented accommodation of this luxurious camp overlooks the river and has en suite shower and toilet and an elevated deck on which to relax. The bar and restaurant also overlook the river and provide beautiful views of the setting sun. A pool is also available. Your dinner and overnight accommodations for the next 2 days are at the Budongo Eco-Lodge /L/D
Day 12: Murchison fall National Park; Game drives, boat trip & Nature walk - o/n Budongo Eco-Lodge
Early in the morning after ferry crossing, have a game drive in the northern sector of the park where part of the movie "The African Queen" was filmed. The animals you may see include elephant, oribi, giraffe, waterbuck, hartebeest, buffalo, sitatunga, bushbuck, warthog, bush pig, lions, leopard, e.t.c.. After lunch, you take a launch trip on the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls, viewing wildlife and birds en route. Nile crocodiles are abundant as are hippo and aquatic birds. This excursion offers a good chance of seeing shoebills, a unique bird found only in a few restricted areas of Africa. You later drive to the top of the falls to obtain excellent views of the Nile plunging through a 20-foot wide gap in the rocks before dropping an impressive 145 feet over the escarpment. B/L/D
Day 13: Murchison Falls NP - Kampala
In the morning you drive back to Kampala. You may do the Kampala city tour, and do some shopping for crafts and gifts for loved ones back home.You may spend the night at the beautiful Cassia Lodge in Kampala or in Entebbe.
Day 14: Kampala-Entebbe Airport.
Depending on your flight departure time, you could spend some time, touring the quiet laid back town of Entebbe. Visit the Uganda wildlife education centre. Etc
