Description
"Bwana Tembo" is a Swahili word meaning "Sir Elephant" or "Master Elephant". The mighty elephants often visited the site when the camp was under construction.
Bwana Tembo camp, set up a kilometre from the White Nile has safari tents and cottages to cater for the requirements of different clients owned by an Italian family who first came to Uganda in 1986 and they opened the camp in 2012. The camp is 10kms from the Murchison Falls National park northern gate, one of Uganda’s famous natural reserves.
There are 6 cottages at the Safari Camp which can be a singles, doubles or twins. A third bed can also be provided if required. There are 2 shelved wardrobes and a small safe for anyone who wishes to leave valuables in the room. Each cottage has its own veranda overlooking the Nile with a beautiful view, and they are all self-contained with flushing toilets, hand basins and showers with hot and cold running water. There are lights set up inside and outside of each.
There are 4 safari tents set up on the upper side of the Camp with a decked area in front for great views. They are built on a well layered wooden platform raised off the ground and have a thatched roof on top for extra protection from sun and rain. The tents can be arranged as single or twin tents. The brickwork bathroom is fixed unto the back of the tent.
