Day 1.
Arrival at Entebbe Airport and welcomed by our professional English speaking driver guide. Depending on time of arrival we transfer to Kampala for overnight at either Cassia Lodge or Le Petit Village Hotel BB basis. Cassia Lodge has the best seat from which to view and marvel at Lake Victoria and the now 21 hills that make up Kampala. Unwind on the terrace or in the swimming pool as you prepare for an adventurous discovery of Uganda tour which may you lead to catch the infectual travel bug to Uganda that so many of past clients have caught and since returned to Uganda again and again.
Day 2;
After breakfast, do a brief tour of Kampala before proceeding to Jinja for some adrenalin pumping action while rafting the most exciting grade 5 rapids on the mighty Nile. For clients who may not be adrenalin junkies, we take this opportunity to check out the legendary source of the Nile. Lunch is envisaged at Gately Inn Jinja where we spend the night. Horse riding can be arranged O/N Gately Inn Jinja. Sunset Hotel/Jinja Nile Resort.
Day 3,
After breakfast we proceed with our exciting journey further east to Mbale. We meet the culturally rich Bagisu who produce, probably the best tasting Arabica coffee. Your guide will explain to you the rich Gisu traditions. Time permitting we embark on an afternoon trek to the marvellous Sipi falls and Mount Elgon. You get a chance to explore the rich vegetation in this rare green region with banana and coffee plantations. O/N Lacam Lodge/Noah's Ark BB basis.
Day 4;
After breakfast, we take a leisurely 3 hrs drive from Mbale to Soroti and another 1.5hrs on a good road to Lira. Lunch is envisaged at a Lira hotel, after which we drive an extra 2.5hrs before we get to Kitgum where we spend the night at Boma Hotel BB basis.
Day 5;
From Kitgum we cruise 2 hrs to our exciting off-the-beaten track safari destination, Kidepo National Park. We have an afternoon game drive and later check into our accommodations for the next 3 nights.
High end clients will immerse themselves in pure luxury and bliss at the world renowned Apoka Lodge, while our mid-range clients will stay at the modest, functional and comfortable UWA bandas. For all our clients Kidepo assures you of game, animals, and safari bliss galore. You will appreciate the long distance from Kampala to Kidepo after the photos-ops that one gets with lions, cheetahs, lepoards etc while at Kidepo. O/N Apoka Lodge/Apoka UWA Bandas.
Day 6;
After breakfast go for photographic game drives along the trails of Kidepo national park. We explore this beautiful region of the river Narus valley. Kidepo park hosts one of the most amazing faunas of any Ugandan National Parks if not Africa parks, with over 80 species of mammals several of which are only found in Kidepo, like cheetah, striped hyenas and caracal. The bird list hovers at over 465 species. A part from the game drive, on request you might organize a visit to the local Karimojong homestead or “manyattas for a cultural feel of how the Karimajong live.
Day 7.
After breakfast, Kidepo deserves more discovery with a drive of about 42kms each way for a rare trip to the hotsprings resident in this park plus a chance to marvel at some ostriches.This is an all day trip and lunch would be packed lunch only to return to Apoka Lodge in the evening for a night game drive before retiring for dinner over an African fire.
Day8,
We go mountain climbing to Mr Morongole for a chance to get great views of the whole of Kidepo National Park and even as far as across the border into the youngest nation of Africa-South Sudan. We return to the lodge later in the evening for overnight and to reminisce over the past few fascinating days, prior to bidding goodbye to this gem in the Pearl of Africa.
Day 9;
After breakfast, we proceed to Zziwa Rhino sanctuary in Nakasongola for a guaranteed tacking of the Rhinos. O/N at Amuka Lodge within the sanctuary.
Day 10;
After breakfast we return to Kampala, and depending on your departure flight time, proceed straight to Entebbe Airport for your outbound departure flight.
